On April 17th, 2021 in Shanghai, China, 1,500 LED equipped drones created a scannable QR code in the night sky. This amazing display of advertising was created by a game developing company called Cygames and a Chinese video-sharing website called Bilibili. Once scanned, the QR code prompted the user to download Cygames newest mobile game. Before the QR code was formed, the drones formed the games logo, then flew into the shapes of the games characters and battled across the sky. The unique and entertaining form of advertising was surely expensive, but the mobile game now has an abundance of new users generating revenue for the developer Cygames. This was such a creative and refreshing way to see something advertised and I'm sure we will see more ad campaigns like this in the future.
